Is December The Best Time to Buy A New Car?

New Car Purchase

Now we’re getting to the end of the year, everyone is concentrating on presents and partying so car buyers need a bit of persuading to get into the showroom and buy a car. That may explain why there are deals on new Suzukis and Citroens. Then again, fans of the Vauxhall Corsa won’t need any persuading to be first in the queue for the brand new model? Will they?

Up to £2,000 off Suzuki Models

Suzuki certainly want you to swing by their showroom by offering out the offers, as there is a £1,000 customer saving on all Ignis models. If you’re in need of a small hatchback, this is a very stylish and reliable way to get around. With its 1.2-litre Dualjet engine, Ignis was noted by What Car? Magazine as the most economical car measured in their True MPG testing procedure, recording an impressive 59.6mpg.

Then again, there is a VAT free customer saving on all Swift models except Sport due to Sport buyers receiving a solid £2,000 off making the retail price £16,999. Those who need to have some off road ability may appreciate the 0% APR PCP on all Vitara models. A deposit of £4,625 is required followed by monthly payments of £179 and a final optional payment of £7,382 to keep the car. But there is more, with a whopping £3,000 customer saving on all S-Cross models which prices the 1.0-Boosterjet SZ4 model at £14,999.

Car Exchange Scheme with Citroen

However, over at Citroen they have come up with their very own £5000 scrappage scheme, as customers can trade in their old vehicles and receive a discount of up to £5,000 on all Citroën passenger models. This is available to customers who have owned a car - of any make and model – for more than 90 days, which was first registered before 1 January 2013. This car can be traded in and in return the customer will receive a Swappage discount of £3,000 (including VAT) on the smallest C1 City car or £5,000 (including VAT) across the rest of the Citroën passenger vehicles range.

The rest of the lineup includes the cavernous SpaceTourer MPV, available with seating for up to nine, the stylish C3 Supermini and the family focused, Berlingo and Grand C4 SpaceTourer people carriers, to highlight just a few.

Grab a Supermini from Vauxhall

Even more exciting than those savings is the arrival of the all-new Corsa. Only joking. Here is a supermini that many of us learned to drive in. Delivery won’t be until January and the asking price for the basic 1.2i is £15,550. That does not sound especially cheap, but then if you shop around it is possible to find saving that is on average £2700. This is based on Corsa’s from UK dealers and accessed through a UK based car broker.
